In the meantime thanks to Danny Costello making us aware (danny@danielrae.com) it seems we have a crisis unfolding in Vatukoula with children starving and families facing major difficulties feeding themselves and their children. People are now stealing to feed their children. Very sad scenario. The illegal government has just coughed up $111,000 of our taxpayer funds for our rugby world cup team while these people go hungry. How sad and nutty is this scene ?

They Mayor of Tavua has set up a Vatukoula Families Relief Fund Committee to coordinate the distribution of rations and food to between 4000 - 6000 people in this area who relied on the Goldmines for their living. There is no alternative work in the area and they cant move to find work without money.
We need to help these families people.
The contact person apart from the mayor is Rusila Ralulu whose cell phone is 9271043.
The Mayor has assured us that all funds in this account will go towards buying food and clothing for these families and pay children's school fees. You may make donations to bank account that has been set up by the Mayor in Tavua as follows : Bless you people, please donate any spare change you might have to assist our makabunas in need. Vinaka

A few more tiny pushes in a Mad Week

The last week or so was quite mad - featuring a pathetic display of people in the pretend government clutching at straws, embarking on wishful thinking and just being plain Nutty.

NURSES AND TEACHERS

Meanwhile Poser Bune shows the thinking that the illegal govt has toward our most valued educated and experienced assets like our nurses . He says they simply do not value them - this is part of the comment he makes :
"I think the more that leave our shores the better for us too because we can address our employment problem "
Shows just where his priorities lie. Shame on you Bune !

Also this week in the  first chapter this week of clutching at straws, the illegal Education Minister said he would be asking all the OLD (ie. over 55) RETIRED TEACHERS to fill in the gaps . This is the height of insolence not to mention arrogance. If the regime does not require the services of the GOLDEN OLDIES in the first place, then why are they asking them to support them now !!!

As an older teacher, there is no way I am going to be part of this 'contingency plan'.

THE FATIAKI ISSUE

And then we had to sit through coverage of the pretend AG reading out a letter supposedly from the President regarding names for the Fatiaki Tribunal. Aiyass and his leaders have insulted Fiji's entire national intelligence again by thinking we are all fools.

We all know this was an excuse to delay dealing with the Fatiaki issue. Even my 8 year old makabuna thought he was lying. The EU know this too despite Aiyass's BS. Not only did the letter not even sound like Rt Iloilo wrote it, but Aiyass was mouthing a blatant lie ! Not unlike Milly Vanilli .

ROADING FIX FROM CHINA

In the second chapter of clutching at straws , the pretend Transport person Manu Korovulavula said he/they have plans to "fix" the infrastructure of roading and water all the way from China. I couldn't believe my ears - money is going to fall out of the heavens and into regime arms. Hmm.

PEOPLES CHARTER

And there was a good letter in the paper this week from Tui Savu re : the so called People's Charter - Tui says :

The People's Charter proposed by the interim regime is anathema to the Fijians and all things Taukei. I am bewildered by how Bainimarama and his Fijian colleagues in the interim Cabinet can countenance the boldest move ever to deprive Fijians of their natural inheritance.

What has caused them to be so gullible to such a charter that would have caused the founding fathers of modern Fiji to turn in their graves? Their willingness to trade off or compromise what is venerated to indigenous Fijians reveals their degree of indebtness to their coup advisors because there is simply no other reasonable explanation.

The charter mentions the review of all indigenous Fijian institutions, including the GCC, under the pretext of improving Fijian governance and freeing up of land in the pretext of access to land and land usage.
BEHIND THE SCENES

Which leads me to whats been going on behind the scenes , where there is a slow but deathly roll out of land grab policies by Epeli Ganilau (nickmnamed the 50c man) and his gang of thieves with the following "actions" taken by positioning themselves behind the power of the bullet :
  • sidelining the GCC
  • rejecting land tribunal proposals
  • meddling in the affairs of NLTB
  • trumpeting the farming the land concept from China and turning a blind eye to the conditions with which this scheme will come
  • easing the importation of Chinese nationals to do this work by granting Chinese a visa-less status.
THE WATCH-LIST

Then Vili Naupoto aired the junta's views in this article (sadly he doesn't have any views of his own) saying:

"History though has proven that military training is better than democracy ".

Don't know what history books he has been reading but they show a very sick and perverted way of thinking.

Vili , I and many people who (used to) know you, are sickened and saddened by your parroting. You used to be an honourable man. Don't you have a brain anymore? Or is your salary more important to you? Have ALL your principles and moral values deserted you ? Sad. Bad and Mad. Nutty even.

CULL AS THEY WISH

And then we watch horrified as alpha male posturing in the corridors of pretend power shout for Banuve's head. This is horrifying and frightening ! All people of this country should be crying out at the rape of confidentiality and the precedent that this blatant law-breaking action by the illegal and pretend anti corruption unit, is setting.

Not only is FICAC unconstitutional, it is highly illegal and they are only acting out the petulant moods of the country current dictator and his lackeys !

The crux of the matter is as Mr Josaia Gonewai (FIRCA Staff Association Chairman) says
"The confidentiality clauses included in the Income Tax Act and VAT Decree is the source of this saga that has called the resignation of Mr Banuve,"
"We should be reminded that laws are made to be followed with reasons and are not enacted for the purpose of doing so."
Mr Gonewai said in this case Mr Banuve had been requested to break the laws of the country by surpassing the confidential clause in the Income Tax Act and VAT Decree, which had direct legal catastrophic consequence for future liability claim against FIRCA for the breaching of the said clause.

He said the Association executives called on the interim regime to respect the rule of law and not to put its members in future legal litigation against members of the public of breaching its own law thus compromising its status to the local and International arena."

Good on you Josaia - and Tevita - you make sure you stand your ground. Chain yourself to you desk man. You have every right to protect our confidentiality and our rights as taxpayers. As much as I hate paying taxes to you for the funding of all the illegals now, you must stand firm and stand up for the rule of law.

METHODIST CHURCH PRIORITIES

I was very saddened to read of the excesses that the Methodist Church is forcing on it's members in August for the conference in Macuata. Considering the state of the country right now and the poor state of people, for the Methodists to insist on the choirs and the functions, and the hire of buses and boats and other transport and all the accompanying excesses that go with this is just plain inconsiderate, appalling and nutty, not to mention the plan for turtle meat and the blatant disregard of tradition and conservation here.

People are going to say to me - but they are not being forced.

We all know what the spirit of competition does and what it brings out in our most generous hearted of Fijian people. There are already very poor people being made poorer everyday in our neighbourhood and yet these people are borrowing from everyone and veiwekani to participate - all for image - not for God's glory.

My family have been approached no less than 6 times from different relations for this. I have had to turn them all down - as I will not support this excess. I have 8 extra people now in my household to support that have lost their jobs. The Church isn't supporting them. My husband and I are, with God's help.

I would have a lot more respect for the Methodist Church if they had postponed this conference in consideration of our current plight or were doing a lot more with what they have in the social welfare field. Look at the lines of people at the social welfare offices ! This sight should never be seen in Fiji ! Tied into this are the allocation of Fijian priorities - people would do well to read Rt Joni's comments along these lines which the Church could help articulate.

TV IMAGES shooting poses
REGIME INTIMIDATION ON TV

Lastly but not lastly - did you feel what we felt when we watched TV images on Friday night ? They were philistine, un-fijian, abhorrent, and quite vomitous.  It was the grossest display of brazen insanity AND irresponsibility by police and army trying to intimidate the people of Fiji .

I felt sick to my stomach, then had to try and explain these images to my makabuna. Shame on the army !

MY HERO'S THIS WEEK

My hats off to Taniela Tabu and Attar and Kuini - you stick to your guns people. The whole of Fiji (but for a few nuts ) are right behind you.
___________

As Jean D'Ark said last week on another blog :
"It is indisputably obvious by now that Frank and his IG are way out of their depth. And they are trying to pursue goals that simply cannot be achieved in the way they are attempting to achieve them. They are using a failed governance model, on a flawed and unconvincing roadmap, in the complete absence of the oxygen of leadership skills and mana. They are leaders without followers on a meandering tour around wonderland, sounding out a forlorn clarion call that inspires no-one! "
I hope next week is much better for everyone. God Bless

Each Tiny Push .......

Helen Keller once said :
"I long to accomplish great and noble tasks, but it is my chief duty to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble. The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker."

To people like Kuini and Tevita and Graeme, Richard, Rt Joni , Dan, Shamina and Tupou, Laisa and Mere - we are all behind you pushing for each little step on the way to regaining our dignity in human rights and civil liberties. We admire you for your stance. Please do not give up. We the people of Fiji are right behind you !

PS : Thank you to Fiji Times for their excellent cartoon

Get Real ! Hard times are coming ! A VOSA NI VAKASALA TAUMADA - NI LEQA E VUQA SA TU OQO E MATADA !

Ragone - Bubu has been doing much contemplation and reflection. It astounds me that a week or so ago when we were staring at a full on national strike by many workers in Fiji, how many of us were just not focused on the repercussions and not thinking about tomorrow or about preparing ourselves for the hard times ahead.

It astounds me still how much money my neighbours, friends and itokatoka are wasting on trivial things. It astounds me how people are still wasting their precious pennies on instant gratification. Meals eaten out , yaqona & liquor consumed at such unnecessary expense . It astounds me to see in town every day , parents and grandparents continuing to "give in" to little tantrums from the children about wanting to have lollies or coke. Oilei what happened to good old fashioned discipline!

It astounds me how people continue to waste money catching taxis and mini-buses to go a few miles to the shop for something they should have planned better for or for trivial excursions. It astounds me how our Talatala at our church seems uninterested in helping his flock come to terms with the practical everyday things we need to do to help ourselves. The last couple of Sundays we have had to sit there and listen to him and other visiting Talatala's drone on grog-doped (NOT a good look) about things that do not relate to us in our daily lives. In fact I fell off to sleep quite a few times! In fact (confession time) - I have been doing that a lot lately at church. Na watiqu reckons I am stressed (yes of course) but I think it shows how UNRELATED our church leaders and others like them are becoming to normal everyday people . They need to get real!

I have been following with interest what Kuini and her band of workers are facing. My heart goes out to them and their families as we stand at a crossroads in the lives of our families and in the life of our Fiji .

We need to get real people, and GET REAL. We need to start tightening our belts and as my makabuna's say, "get with the programme" for being pro-active. I opened my Bible last night hoping for some inspiration . My apologies to my English speaking readers but I must get this off my chest. Lets start tightening our belts folks and get vocal about it to our families and loved ones . We need to lay down the law about this. Like our Doctors and Nurses, we too have to provide for and look after our dearest and nearest before we can venture out and look after others. And fight the fight that needs to be fought for our rights and our liberties in the years to come.

Meanwhile the illegal government wannabe ministers carry on WASTING our hardearned taxpayers money carrying out this audit , that audit (example here) , this investigation , that interrogation - spending thousands of man hours on witch hunts and pure VEIQATI . And 7 months down the track - one prosecution of a policeman . Heeellooooo ! To paraphrase Mr Bean-ni-marama on Janet's interview : "uhmm what else have we done - aaahh ummm." Io , oilei . I rest my case.

Save your money - hard times are coming !

What our Nurses do and why they are worth more than 1%

Because patients need 24-hour care, hospital nurses often work nights, weekends, and holidays. Office nurses are more likely to work regular hours. Many nurses work part time.

Nurses strip beds, wash and clean bedpans and make beds. They know how to successfully toilet both male and female patients. They bathe patients and massage hurt limbs and muscles. Nurses clean and dress wounds, deliver babies and administer injections.

Nurses give emotional support to patients and their families. They watch for signs that people are sick. Some nurses help to give tests to find out why people are sick, do lab work and get test results. Nurses administer emergency treatment in ambulance & assist doctors in surgery, suturing and handling bleeding. They also handle major trauma including burns.

Nurses keep the medical-surgical wards, intensive-care and any psychiatric inpatient beds open and running. They answer the phones and deal with the public 24/7. They run errands for patients and doctors and other nurses.

They ensure the morgue and bodies contained within are admitted, cleaned and cared for with respect.

Many nurses spend a lot of time walking and standing. Nurses also need to be careful in order to stay safe- they care for people who have diseases that they can catch too & nurses can get hurt while helping to move patients. Nurses also need to guard against radiation from x-rays and chemicals in medicine.

Nurses teach people how to take care of themselves and their families talking about diet and exercise and how to follow doctors' instructions. Some nurses run clinics and immunization centers.

I believe Nurses are poorly paid for the job that they do and perhaps what should be most worrying of all, almost all the nurses I know have seriously considered leaving their posts; the reasons for this being poor pay, poor working conditions and increased work pressure. The opportunities for Nurses in Australia and NZ are great and I know of at least 14 nurses that have left Fiji for these opportunities in the last couple of years.

Although most of my nurse friends say that nursing remains a vocational job and that nurses do not enter the profession for the salary, it is unquestionable that nursing remains a highly committed job with nursing staff implementing high levels of care delivery, and that many remain committed to their jobs. Indeed, many stay because of their commitment. However the loaf of bread at the sitoa remains the same price irrespective of the job that you do, as does the mortgage payment, so to say that pay is not a driving factor for all workers is somewhat missing the point.

It is important to also note that nursing is becoming an ageing profession. I wonder what percentage of our very experienced nurses are due to retire over the next 10 years.

To ensure that nursing becomes a career of choice, with the ability to retain and develop nursing staff, but also to ensure that it is a career that can attract new recruits, the message that is sent out by any administration has to be one that is looking to look after their workforce. The nurses and others had no role in this idiocy called BainiCoup so why is everyone else suffering ?

We must bring back our sense of normalcy, our due processes and honourable Union leaders who think of the workers and not of their personal political careers. A Government with warts is far better than one hiding behind the unwanted bully that is the dakai. The administration of the day must not only invest in the future of the service, but in the future of the staff who deliver that service. Nurses or Govt workers in other departments, please shout this message loud and proud at every opportunity .

Kuini's words today (F/T) : "We need moral and spiritual support from the public because Fiji needs nurses. We respect those who will not strike because of their faith but we believe in fighting for the same cause to benefit medical orderlies and nurses. Medical orderlies look after patients in Saint Giles and some of them are retiring on $9000 after 35 years of working so all we are asking the interim regime is to be fair. We are not here to be whipped every time there is a coup. Business communities, private sectors and churches should assist in partnerships with government to furnish and equip health centres and homes for the aged."

Hear hear Kuini - the the workers of Fiji deserve better than the BS the illegal government is giving us ! Go Kuini Go !

FIJIAN LAND UP FOR GRABS

Qori mai ..... here is the start of the land grab The Fiji Freedom Bloggers have been talking about all this time from the itaukei . Read it here

The sound of this article sounds like one of those slogans from Mao's little Red book ("all for the good of the people" and " revolutionize the social economy of the people"')

I think the Fijian regime has been reading too many Chinese
revolutionary books lately ! Dum Gai's - why Yu Bin Fling Ing Dung?!

If I read this right this scary article means Epeli will be TAKING - yes TAKING - the land from us and then "re-selling" the land back to us after the project is proven profitable ...... if it ever gets there - but its that process of even getting there that is eight-tenths (what do they say about possession ?) of the problem ! Woilei !

This opens up a tamani (huge) big bucket of baca ni qele (worms) !

What does it take for these idiots to realise that there is no such thing a s a free lunch with the Chinese. The first thing China will do which will be part of the "conditions" of the loan, will be to import thousands of Chinese to work the land - the second colonial wave in Fiji's history - the money derived from this work will all back to China to pay of the "Chinese grant" - which is really a money-shark loan. This is like giving you one chopstick to eat with ! As the old Chinese saying goes "Man with one chopstick go hungry." Only one place to put it eh !

Not to mention the introduction of a new wave of "colonizers" if I can call them that.

Before we know it our national resources will be taken from us - forestry and fishes and minerals - as China needs to find resources to feed their millions - and this idiotic band of illegals are falling right into this trap. All the Chinese have to do is find a desperate country and pounce !

If the illegal's decide to have a competition for a new flag, here's what it might look like.

Look, they don't even have to advertise so they could save themselves money and just accept my rendition.

Here is an interesting article for digestion :

And where do we end up ?

No where - and alienated from our own land ! Victims of someone's absolute stupidity, jealousy, hate and ignoramus. Read more about this issue at fellow bloggers Hearts and Minds Blog.

China, is willing to support Fiji without any strings attached, a recently completed Lowy Institute report on China's estimated aid program in the Pacific, revealed an increase in aid, from US$25 million in 2006 to a staggering $160 million in 2007. Australia only provided A$26.9 million.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Fiji Electriciy Authority and the Chinese Development Bank signed a US$70 million loan agreement to commence construction of the Nadarivatu Hydropower project.

Chinese loans are also helping to fund other infrastructure projects in Fiji. This is worrying Australia. The possibility of Fiji turning to China could undermine Australia's competing influence in the region.
Toso mai na people's revolution !

Bubu's Lament

I am your bubu.
I’m really very nice.
I help you loving citizens
And give you good advice!

Your Government has departed
Your income cut too low.
I’m really very sorry,
Unions too will soon have to go

(- Oilei - breaking news - passports have run out again ! Arre Arre )

The goons have been abusive?
They beat you black and blue?
No one to help you,
And no one talking too !

The nation has a problem,
For 7 months some are not too clever
The goons in green - yes them
Have spit on Democracy forever

Rabaka, Verebesaqa & Malasebe
Their families need respite;
The Nation waits for answers
The Army hiding answers tight !

Bai tells us he does not care,
Military appointments hide his affairs
Missing Regimental Funds
And Police Files all "lost" in thin air

Lewenski says its none of our concern
They will take more of what they seek,
Take all our freedoms - bugger what we think
And spend what they like per week !!

The InHumane Commission can't protect us ,
Shaista shakes kutu's from her mane
She and Aiyass - no ethics on their bus
Interference in the Judiciary their aim

Bainimarama thinks he is Django or Jesus
Acting in his personal schizo movie
To be "transparent and pure" he sneezes
" Oh notchi" my makabuna cries - Vore is SOOO NOT groovy

With a cast of goons in posse
Arbitary terminations without cause - like a bad novel
We watch in disbelief - oilei ni sa moce
As our Fiji becomes a hovel!

The good judges know that we the people are right,
With us they will agree
While la-la-Bernie flies the world at night
We await our chances with Fatia-ki

And Bai said "Take them out"
Naipoto says "Yes Sir"
Cameron, Mason, Green and Field out with a pout
Any resistance becomes a blur

The people they are hurting - no jobs and pay cuts,
Bloggers say what the people think.
The Regime think only image as they are but mutts
and spout daily, LIES about everythink.

Chaudry talks to China, Cuba and India in secret,
Offers our land and people without our say so
And Chand bleats "good governance" to fret
How absurd - the people are not stupid - yo !

Our makabunas are learning bad things,
Disrespect and bullies, no manners and no care
Bainimarama and his cast of "nings-nings"
Must to treason and prison to bear

So now you know why
The goons never will want elections
And to the EU and UN will delay and lie
It is clear, they want all Power and - ATTenTions !

So luvequs - rise up and take up your sasa's
Kua na galu ! Make a stand ! Off your muna's !
Power back to the Bubu's ,Tutu's and Tata's
For the future of Viti's Makabunas
