Violence begets violence. Don't lose sight of the Issues, Fiji.

Totally consistent with the biblical commandment that Thou shalt not kill, violence and war never will solve deep rooted problems in Fiji or in the world.

Violence begets more violence and the spiral becomes never ending in tit-for-tat killings to the point where the combatants forget what they are even fighting for or against.

We must NEVER lose sight of the Principles and Values we the FIJI FREEDOM BLOGGERS are fighting for .

"Why Fiji Is Crying Blog Site" must realize and understand that by highlighting a blogger's comment that encourages violence against tourists and others, they are :

a) doing the rest of the Fiji Freedom Bloggers a disservice for we wish to promote sensibility, rationale and respect for the rule of law in our approach to solving our national problem

b) bringing into disrepute the majority of Fijian people who are law-abiding, kind-hearted, God- fearing people.

c) being manipulated by that person or persons - who Bubu thinks is actually from the Army who are taking the terrorist tack of : "we expect your retaliation; it's what unites us and divides you." !

So WFC - if you are reading this - think about it .
Someone who is in the army has deliberately set out to trap you and you have fallen into it. Please kindly climb out of your pit, and soldier on with the issues so that we are ALL united on the issues. Indeed if we are not, it will be our downfall. We owe it to the people of Fiji and the thousands of people who log onto our sites to be united in our battle. We are fighting for the same things are we not WFC ?

An Irishman once sung "an eye for an eye for an eye, until everybody is blind." He was talking about the situation in Belfast in the early 1980's in which there was so much retaliation on both sides that everybody was blind in both their justice and their hatred.

The conflict has now simmered into non-existence because more rational minds have negotiated for a better future for all citizens rather than particular special interests. I am sure that the rest of the Fiji Freedom Bloggers would agree that we wish to do the same here.

Everyday while we personally deal with our own battles to survive Bai's madness, we have to continually ask the question: Is this really what Jesus would teach us to do? Is this what Allah would teach us to do? Is this what Lord Shiva would have us do? Is this what Buddha would teach us ?

I beg all of you to consider these questions deeply and profoundly in your hearts and consider what your personal God would have you do. Luvequ's, please don't let anger or violent opinion cloud your sensibilities and your innate godliness.

May God protect and guide Fiji. Onward march Fiji Freedom Bloggers !

MALIGNANT NARCISSIST IS FIJI COUP LEADER

Luvequ's - Bubu has been doing some research in the library and talking with a few Dokota's.

Together we have diagnosed this very dangerous condition that is this man pretending to lead Fiji at this time. Here are a few links for you to try in your own time. Meantime, Bubu was given the following as part of the research group findings. Read and be very afraid for our country and our makabunas.

Psychologically speaking, CrankyFranky is what is called a ‘malignant narcissist.’
Narcissist
DICTIONARY : excessive interest in oneself.

PRONOUNCIATION : Narsey sist

In a nutshell a narcissist is someone who has become hypnotized and entranced by their own inflated self-image, using others as objects to satisfy their own need of self-promotion. The narcissist believes he is the main character in his own movie. Everyone else has a supporting role-- everyone around him becomes a "type."

So the goal is to become the one with the most power and control. Hence, narcissists can be dogmatic ("adultery is immoral!") and hypocritical ("well, she came on to me, and you were ignoring me at home") all at the same time.

There is no right and wrong-- only right and wrong for them. Here's an exaggerated example: if they have to kill someone to get what they want, then so be it.

A narcissist also tries to keep up a certain "look" with a defining characteristic: a certain haircut; a type of clothing such as a uniform used to create an identity in his mind that he will spend a lot of energy keeping up. When narcissists murder or condone murder, they don't actually think what they're doing is wrong--they're saying, "I know it's illegal, but if you understood the whole situation, you'd understand... His pronouncements are a good example of this. Narcissists never feel guilt, shame or sin.

A ‘malignant’ narcissist, however, is a narcissist who reacts sadistically to others who don't support and enable their narcissism. For example, reacting with ruthless contempt for anyone who disagrees with them, always denying the accusation, trying to deflect blame and trying to destroy the messenger. Ultimately, a malignant narcissist wants to annihilate
anyone who in any way threatens their illusory self-image and self-serving agenda.
Malignant narcissists can be very adept at manipulating others and clever at camouflaging their hostile agenda, even to themselves, and can appear to be very normal. To quote the great doctor of the soul, psychiatrist C. G. Jung “only a very small fraction of so-called psychopaths land in the asylum. Many of these so-called seemingly ‘normal’ psychopaths are drawn to positions of power.

Malignant narcissists are very skilled at entrancing others, at putting other’s under their spell and very talented at hooking others through their fear by using ‘mind-control’ techniques such as lying and propaganda to control them.
The narcissism of a person such as Bai evokes the narcissism inherent in his supporters, who identify with Bai’s seeming certainty and lack of doubt . This creates a very dangerous and pathological situation called “group narcissism,” in which a large group of people have dis-connected from their critical faculties and entrusted their power to their narcissistic leader. A good example of this is Ratu Nailatikau's erratic behaviour on TV when asked about Green. Did you notice that he looked and sounded just like Bai does ?

This is a perversely symbiotic, co-dependent relationship in which all members of the group are colluding with and enabling each other’s narcissism. For example, Bai, in his utter narcissism thinks that God speaks through him. Instead of being seen as deluded, his supporters reflect back to him that they, too, think that God speaks through him. This, of course, just reinforces Bai’s narcissistic delusion. Seeing Bai as God’s instrument concurrently fulfills in the Bai support camp their adolescent fantasy of having someone who is playing the role of the divine leader to protect them. This mutually interdependent and reciprocally reinforcing delusion is what is called a ‘collective psychosis.’
By playing with people’s fear, Bai hypnotizes people to give their power away to him. Unfortunately, by doing this he has hypnotized himself as well, which is to say he is deceiving himself in the process of his deceiving of others. Malignant narcissists are pathological liars. They are very adept at both lying and then believing their own lies. The conviction they carry in this act of self-deception can easily ‘entrance’ people.

A malignant narcissist plays with people’s fears so as to gain their trust and control them, which is based on the abuse of power over others that is the signature of a true dictator.

At their core, a malignant narcissist’s desire is to dominate and have power over others. The perverse enjoyment of complete domination over another person(s), which involves transforming a person into an object (a ‘thing’), in which their freedom is taken away, is the very essence of the sadistic drive. Their sadism is a way of transforming their feelings of powerlessness and impotence into an experience of omnipotence.

A malignant narcissist hasn’t developed a sense of their own authentic self, which is why they are unable to be in genuine relationship with others - witness all the lasaituba afairs Bai has had over the years and the way he has tossed away any friendships he may have had. Psychologically, malignant narcissism is a very primitive and un-evolved state.

Because they don’t relate to other people as independent and separate from their own inflated, narcissist self, the malignant narcissist doesn’t respect other people’s boundaries. Their self-serving, narcissistic illogic allows them to justify, even in the name of God, transgressing other’s boundaries, be them an individual’s civil liberties, or another nation’s sovereignty. Interestingly enough, etymologically, the word “evil” is related to the word “transgress.”
Malignant narcissists are unable to feel empathy for others , have an overwhelming lack of genuine compassion, care only for themselves (therefore, are unable to genuinely mourn) , and are indifferent to other people’s suffering, all the while, though, professing their compassion. If they show grief, however, as master manipulators, it is only done if it is politically correct to do so and to their advantage. They are a true ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing.’

Malignant narcissists are themselves being used and manipulated like puppets on a string by the more powerful archetypal force. Becoming possessed by an archetype like this, to quote Jung, “turns a man into a flat collective figure, a mask behind which he can no longer develop as a human being, but becomes increasingly stunted.” Jung continues “Since nobody is capable of recognizing just where and how much he himself is possessed and unconscious, he simply projects his own condition upon his neighbor, and thus it becomes a sacred duty to have the biggest guns and the most poisonous gas.” ( Recognise Aiyarse Kaiyum in all this ? How fortunate for Aiyarse that he stumbled upon such a madman.)

Malignant narcissists can seem confident and self-assured, but are, in reality, covering deep insecurities and fears through an inflated self-image. Intense feelings of revenge, fury and rage verging on insanity manifests when their fear is exposed, and their narcissism threatened. At the core of their process is self-hatred, as malignant narcissists split-off and dissociate from a part of themselves. Jung talks about this condition by saying it may even result in “a splitting of the personality, a condition in which quite literally one hand no longer knows what the other is doing…..Ignorance of one’s other side creates great insecurity. One does not really know who one is; one feels inferior somewhere and yet does not wish to know where the inferiority lies, with the result that a new inferiority is added to the original one.” A malignant narcissist falls into an infinite regression of being in denial about being in denial and hiding from their own lies. A malignant narcissist such as Bai is continually in a state of hiding from himself.
Malignant narcissists have contempt for and flagrantly violate the rule of law, which, in their inflation, they believe themselves to be above. “International law” Malignant narcissists, like a true bully, abuse their power simply because they can. They can endlessly ‘talk’ about taking responsibility, but they never genuinely face up to and become accountable for their actions.

Malignant narcissists are unwilling and unable to experience their sense of shame, guilt or sin. This inability to consciously feel their ‘negative’ feelings is at the root of the dynamic in which they dissociate from their own darkness, blaming and ‘projecting the shadow’ out there onto some ‘other.’ This splitting-off and projecting out their own evil results in always having a potential enemy around every corner, which is why malignant narcissists tend towards paranoia. Malignant narcissists continually ‘need’ an enemy and will even create new ones to ensure that they don’t have to look at the evil within their own hearts. They react with aversion to the reflection of their own evil, going so far as to want to exterminate evil (or in Bai's case - "corruption") from the world. Ridding the world of corruption is an act that can never be attained, however, as by ‘projecting the shadow,’ malignant narcissists themselves become the very evil-doer that they see out there and are trying to destroy. Bai has become possessed by the very thing he’s fighting against.

Caught in the vicious cycle of the repetition compulsion of the traumatized soul, malignant narcissists create more of the very evil that they are fighting against, as is evidenced by the way Bai is "fighting corruption". He has become a terrorist in the way he has reacted to this . In essence, Bai is at war with and trying to destroy his own shadow, which is not only a battle that can never be won, but is a form of insanity. And he’s acting it out on the world stage.

Two other malignant narcissists, Hitler and Stalin carried out certain campaigns similar to Bai's "Clean-Up Campaign" which were attempts "to perfect the world by destroying the [projected] impurities." Another modern day malignant narcissist was none other than Saddam Hussein. If left in power, malignant narcissists ultimately destroy themselves and everyone around them.

Malignant narcissists are what are called ‘necrophiles,’ in that their impulses are perversely directed against life, the spontaneity of which they are afraid of, and towards death and destruction, which they are secretly attracted to. To quote the psychologist Eric Fromm, this “severe mental sickness….represents the quintessence of evil; it is as the same time the most severe pathology and the root of the most vicious destructiveness and inhumanity.”

The ‘force’ used by malignant narcissists to achieve their ends, to use Simone Weil’s definition, has the capacity to turn a man into a corpse- literally. To quote Eric Fromm “Just as sexuality can create life, force can destroy it. All force is, in the last analysis, based on the power to kill. I may not kill a person but only deprive him of his freedom; I may want only to humiliate him…...behind all these actions stands my capacity to kill and my willingness to kill.“ Malignant narcissists have a sadistic ‘willingness to kill’ so as to protect their own self-serving delusions, which makes them particularly dangerous, as they will literally stop at nothing to hold onto the position of power they find themselves in. Malignant narcissists are murderers who are criminally insane.

Malignant narcissism is a deadly illness . However, it is an extremely dangerous situation if the malignant narcissist, like Bai, is in a position of power where he can create endless, unnecessary suffering and destruction.

If we fall under his spell and keep him as leader of this regime by not doing anything now, for another couple years or so , we would be in a situation similar to the Germans in WWII, who, to quote Jung “allowed themselves to be driven to the slaughterhouse by their leading psychopaths like hypnotized sheep.” It is time to wake up from our spell.

We need to do everything and anything in our power to remove Bai from office, for God’s sake, as well as our own.

IT'S OFFICIAL - BAINIPAJAMAS IS BONKERS

Yes folks - if you don't know it already- believe it !

The reasons, and there weren't any - for "expelling" the NZ High Commissioner were contained in a press release that was so badly written and containing no logic that no one in the whole wide world can make head or tail of it !

In otherwords, it's personal to Bai (Green got a better view than Bai at the rugby nah nah na na na), and another GREAT BIG FAT LIE and excuse to get NZ away from Fiji while Bainibonkers goes begging to Pakistan, India and China .... Bubu is willing to bet my most very flowery chaba and my tekiteki that Fiji in the next couple of months will see an influx of Chinese and Indian nationals and lots of very funny money since he isn't going to get any from the EU or anywhere else to prop up his blatant and bi-polar grab for power. Oh and don't forget, this illegal regime needs more excuses to delay the elections and delay all the other investigations into the deaths they caused . etc. etc. etc. Shame on you Bainipupu ! Think we the people of Fiji can't see through you ? Grow up and get a life ! Oh sorry too late !

BUBU CHALLENGES BAINIMARAMA

Bubu cannot let Fiji Times article on 11 June quoting Bainimarama go unchalleged

In its article headed " Bainimarama challenges Ratu Joni", the FT quotes Bainimarama as saying :

"FORMER vice-president Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi's efforts to sensationalise matters and bring race into play will not derail the efforts of the interim Government to set strategic priorities for good governance and prepare a roadmap for true sustainable parliamentary democracy in Fiji, says interim Prime Minister Commander Voreqe Bainimarama."

Bubu says :
Rt Joni's wise comments are not sensationalizing anything. He is merely telling the truth, and yes his comments and the people's comments WILL happily derail the Military Regime's MISGUIDED and ILLEGAL efforts to "save" Fiji. The only thing the army is concerned about is displaying it's armed prowess , alienating the iTaukei and placing back into positions of power failed politicians and others with very warped agendas. This is Bai's "roadmap" . Talkfests about "national-reform" are being used by the KoManDa to justify intimidation of people who strongly voice their opposition to the takeover , and increasingly more excuses used to delay elections. The best "roadmap" for Bai will be to go back to barracks, resign and go to the vanua to seek forgiveness NOW before it is too late.

FT quotes Bainimarama:
Commander Bainimarama said people of Fiji should not forget the fundamental reasons which led to the political transition of 5 December, 2006. He said :''Fiji was badly governed by Qarase-led Government."

Bubu says :
I challenge BaiNiGovernor to provide the PROOF - we have been waiting 6 months and all you can come up with badly handled "evidence" from a con-man called Foster. Oilei luvequ's! Qai desparado or what! This is an example of typical slanderous statements made only by Bai and a few cronies vs the Whole of The Nation of Fiji who democratically elected Qarase and his government in warts and all. Qarase was doing a fabulous job in the scheme of things - taking us forward and away from the coup culture. The only "bad" thing he did was not succeeding in down-sizing the army and relacing Bai as KoManDa.

FT quotes Bainimarama:
" Nepotism, fraud and corruption were well accepted norms of that Government."

Bubu says :
This is yet another example of a parrot like statement that provides no substance. Get this Bai - corruption has been , is still and will be part of any society starting from the beginning of the ape-era. Corruption will be found in any society, small or big - it takes years to uproot - and this is done by implementing well researched workplace systems of job appraisals, work performance check-lists, & good supervisory checks and balance systems. Corruption was here in Mara's period, Chaudrys period, Bavadra's period and it is especially even more so still here in Bai's period. Plus this "excuse" is NO excuse to take over the running of any democratically elected government. NEVER! Anyway Nepotism, fraud and corruption is being seen by the public of Fiji BIG TIME under this military dicktatorship - I mean how many of Bai's family are leading figures in the illegal administration ? How many military cronies have been placed on Boards and in other positions in Government ? Helllooooo ! And how's this for a great big huge fat LIE today : - more lies on the way .....
Oh and, more cronies to be placed in diplomatic posts and to the UN.
Wait there's more - what about all the interference in the Judiciary and Statutory Bodies in Fiji and all the cronies placed in these arena's!

FT quotes Bainimarama:
" It was nationalist in orientation and was leading the country to a disastrous path through introduction of controversial legislations and policies. "

Bubu says :
There is nothing wrong with Nationalism when it is tempered with due processes and when it exists in a healthy climate of debate. Nationalism remains a force to be reckoned with in the real politik arena of Fiji. It tempers those that would try and sabotage the aspirations of the itaukei - such as we are seeing now with Sahu-Kahn and his contentious plan to wrest the land away from itaukei. Nationalism has a place in this world. The Reconciliation, Tolerance and Unity Bill, went through and was going through it's layers of tempering - this Bill would have seen the TRUTH of the previous coups emerge. Bai did not want this truth coming out. This is one of the reasons he was so against this Bill. Add to this Commissioner Andrew Hughes had information that would have exposed Bai and his cronies. So Bai mouthed off about the Bill when in reality , these aforementioned reasons were the real deal. The there was the Qoliqoli Bill - an awesome Bill that was to go through the tempering processes and that would have helped the itaukei hugely. Unfortunately, certain people in the Hospitality arena took it the wrong way and bent/paid Bai to listen, so off he went down that path with his illogical reasoning. How much did you get paid Bai for wearing this argument ? The reason we have a democratic process is that these things can be talked about and worked through our representatives whom we voted into Parliament. There was NO excuse for Bai to come in and usurp these ordinary workings of a nation going about it's daily work.

FT quotes Bainimarama:
"All those malpractices were denying the common and grassroots people of this country the opportunity to secure decent jobs and income. What kind of democracy was that where people were being exploited by a handful of power hungry politicians for their own benefits?'' "

Bubu says:

Yea ? Prove this statement Mr Bai ! We know the country was gowing well and prospering under Qarase and his government ! Go and see the Reserve bank - they can give you the figures ! There is more unemployment and more crime produced by the Military stupidness in 6 months that ever before in the history of this nation ! Also it is becoming clearer by the day that Bai's grab for power in nothing but a personal vendetta and witch hunt against people he perceived as "tall poppies" , anyone who is/has associated with Qarase and the SDL party, or known opponents of the junta. It was evident that this was done through pure spite and vindictiveness especially as accusations without any proof or substance were spouted daily in Fijian on Radio Fiji One. VERY funny eh, that none of these amazing accusations and reports of grave "evils" were never repeated on the English Stations !

FT quotes Bainimarama:
Commander Bainimarama said "Fiji has been suffering from deep-rooted structural problems, a governance environment severely warped by the dominance of parochial ethnic politics and with an increasing incidence of corruption and lawlessness."

Bubu says :
It is now well known that Bai has wanted to take revenge on certain chiefs and others in the community for actions in the past. It is extremely unfortunate that he decided to sabotage a whole nation and endanger it's people because of his megalomania - this is really what Bai means about "deep-rooted structural problems". When Bai talks about "ethnic politics", there he goes again trying to save the nation with his own brand of whatever that means. I guess we now see what this means - it means placing all the Indians of the Fiji Labour Party in Government - to "redistribute ethnicity" - like chess pieces - you go there and you go there - and all these people now "owe" Franky. How much are these people paying you Franks? Oh and who wrote this rebuttal for you?

FT quotes Bainimarama:
''Certainly at this time when we are trying to rise from the ashes and are making inroads to moving the country forward, Fiji does not deserve highly sensational and damaging speeches like those of Ratu Madraiwiwi. If he has contributions to make, it would be more prudent to do that in dialogue with us rather than presenting a paper at a seminar in Australia,'' Commander Bainimarama said.

Bubu says :
Let Bubu point it out to you again Mr Frankdaligatuli - the reason no one wants to dialogue with you is because you :

(a) dont'/won't listen to anyone
(b) have your own agenda anyway so it's a waste of breath
(c) it has been proven that if we peasants state an opinion, or indeed send an email or look up a blog (look at this articleand listen here to what happened to a student at USP) , we get beaten and bashed, or even killed (remember Tevita, Nimilote and Sakiusa?)
(d) it is proven that you really don't want to HEAR what people have to say as you have made up your own mind anyway
(e) it doesn't matter what opinions other people have , especially if they go against you, because you have other mis-guided, ill-informed and ill-advised coup-apologists whispering in your tapioka-filled ears!
(f) if Rt Joni's speech was sensational and damaging and racist, what about Chaudry's utterances, Sahu-Khan's paper, Shamsham's coup justification paper, and Aiyaz's thesis ? Gotta be consistent in your calls Frankiebaby - one rule for all - not as you determine when you determine because you can ! Anyone would think you were a Dicktator !

PS - the only ashes in Fiji are the ashes you have created are your own.

Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi was absolutely correct when he questioned the aims of Fiji's current so called leaders, describing the progress of the country as being like an 'Alice in Wonderland' journey.

Running Fiji at the point of the Gun

What does it say for us as a people and a society that we let this happen to us ? Thank you Mr Rova for reiterating what I have been saying all along.

Letter to the Editor in today's Fiji Times (11 June 2007)

"Role models

Those who lend their active or passive support to the military coup, or the military-dominated regime it has espoused, should not be wringing their hands and bemoaning any rise in violent crime.

The young people of this nation have just witnessed a group of citizens using weapons to achieve power and all the perks that come with it.

They have witnessed these acts of lawbreaking, bullying, and thuggery being rewarded recognition and immunity from prosecution by those we should be able to look up to, to protect law and order in Fiji.

Worse still, a senior military officer has just been made head of our Police Force!

The mess resulting from the coup has pushed large numbers of people into desperate survival mode and aimlessness: a proven recipe for increased crime.

It has shown us that grabbing what belongs to others using violence, or threats of violence, pays.
This legacy will continue to poison the minds of the youth of this nation unless we as parents, educators, and caring citizens stand up for what is right.

Community and business leaders should be reflecting on this, not calling short-sightedly for the return of soldiers to the street, or conveniently condoning the military's growing grip on almost every facet of our national life.

R. Rova
Nadi"
__________

Come on Fiji ! Let us do something positive.
Let us pray for Fiji together. Collectively our voice will pray for commonsense and healing to prevail on our long journey back to democracy and respect, and to the rule of law and justice.

Whatever your religion, if you are in Suva, bring your friends, colleagues and co-workers and your lunches to Sukuna Park on Thursday 14 June at 1pm and let us join hands in prayer for our nation.

FIJI IN MOURNING

How many more must die before oppressed Fiji citizens stand up to the illegal , cruel and heartless regime running our country into the ground ?

It's time to do something for our children and stop this nonsense.

Mrs Rabaka, Sakiusa's mother had this to say recently. For all the mothers, fathers and families that are hurting and for the rest of our country that are feeling this pain, show your opposition to this Military Dictatorship by wearing something blue every Tuesday (blue being the colour of our flag, of our sky and our ocean and our loyalty to the values of humility, sharing, kindness and
principles of democracy that make us the proud nation of Fiji) and something white every Thursday (white being the colour of rememberence, of purity, cleanliness and innocence - of what we have lost and what we can hope for again).

MORE BLOOD ON BAINIMARAMA'S HANDS - AGAIN

So here's a story - you leave your house vibrant and alive in the company of law-enforcement officers , and 24 hours later you turn up dead in the morgue, covered in bruises with no explanations of how this happened.

I'm sorry but this situation is very sickening , shocking, horrendous and unbelievable.

The buck stops with the leader of this illegal regime - thats you Bainimarama !

Please explain to Fiji and to the world how this could have happened and did happen !

The stories are here :
June 5th story 2007 and here June 6th story 2007

and the TV news coverage can be viewed here :

Man dies after taken in by police

Basically the story is this.

On Tuesday, June 05, 2007. Mrs Nakuila of Newtown, Nasinu has claimed her son has died as a result of police beating. She said that on Monday June 4th. her 31 year old son Tevita Malasebe, was asleep when about eight policemen in civilian clothing arrived at their home at about midnight last night to take her son to the Valelevu police station.

They handcuffed her son and the police officers told the family was told he was being taken to the Valelevu police station for a few questions about a small matter and that they were not to follow them but to wait at home and they were not to worry.

She said that after an hour , she and her 2 other sons went to the station they were told that neither Tevita nor the officers had arrived. They waited for about two hours and left with her two younger sons for home.

On Tuesday morning 5th June, Mrs Nakuila phoned her family lawyer who enquired for her at the Valelevu Police Station as to the whereabouts of Tevita. Later in the day she later received a telephone call from the Colonial War Memorial Hospital - "Doctor tell me I said, is he alive or dead or is he injured. The Doctor replied I can't tell you over the phone you have to personally come to the hospital, and identify whether this is your son"

Ms Nakuila said she was taken to the morgue where her son lay covered by a white bed sheet. Dead.

His body was badly bruised from his neck down. Physical abuse was evident all over his body, bruises on his hands . She said she could see a mark on his chest, like they had injected him with something. His stomach was discolored, it's was black from the stomach down to his feet. and marks of the handcuffs were still visible on his wrists.

She said she wanted answers from the police on why her son died in their hands.

Tevita was supposed to have turned 31 on June 17, now his family are still trying to come to terms with how their son and brother was taken so drastically from them. The grieving mother wants to know what happened to her son who was taken away by police officers and ended up dead at the hospital..
_____________

In damage control, the gist of what a Police spokesman said on Fiji TV last night as as follows :

A man was taken in by police for questioning over a series of robberies between Suva and Nausori . It was a "lengthy interview". He developed breathing problems . And died.
_____________

Really ?
_____________

Echoes of Rabaka and Verbesaqa.

Lets see what other lies this military regime will give us and what "explanation" they will give to Tevita's nana.

Will these people be moral enough to admit to anything, something ?

We wait to see.

BAI PLAYS "LET'S PRETEND"

So much for the lifting of "emergency law" !

On the 3rd June Fiji TV carried this headline :BREAKING NEWS : Freedom of Travel curtailed for Fiji Law Society Woman LawyerTupou Draunidalo , Fiji Law Society VP was prevented from leaving Nadi Airport by Fiji's Gestapo . She was told she is on the Fiji (Gestapo) Watchlist, subsequently stopped by Immigration and unable to fly out to her law conference. Tupou was to attend a Law Asia Conference in her capacity as the only official representative of the Fiji Law Society."

Then on the 4th of June , she was told the shamozzle was a "mix-up".

The Military Regime viewed this woman as a threat to national security only because she spoke out against the regime .

Such sensitive souls !

Legal eagle opinion is : if the Emergency Regulations are really lifted (a) there should be NO "watch-list", (b) Immigration authorities have no power to stop people from leaving the country just by saying so - they need a COURT ORDER people !!!!!!!!!

So remember your rights, as this pretentious and childish "list" should not be even in existence !

The only reason she was let go was because it hit the media and became an embarrassing hot kumala for the ruling pretenders. On 1st of June , Prof. Brij Lal says it like it really is :

NO GUARANTEE OF FREEDOM:
BRIJ LAL ON THE LIFTING OF EMERGENCY LAWS

"A leading historian and an architect of Fiji's constitution says it's still not clear which way Frank Bainimarama is steering the island nation.

His comments follow revelations last night that the State of Emergency regulations on the island have now been lifted.

Lal says it's been almost six months since the coup and Fiji has not moved ahead.

He says the only thing clear at this stage, is the determination of the military to control locals. Locals have just this week complained about the continuing reign of terror by the military as it determinedly pursues critics who speakout against them. Just last week two lawyers, who're challenging the interim government's decision to suspend the Great Council of Chiefs, were taken in for questioning. "

FICAC ALSO PLAY'S LET'S PRETEND

Wise Fellow blogger , "Rerevaka Na Kalou, Ka Doka Na Tui" , (http://fuggedaboutit.wordpress.com/) said on his/her Blog Site May 31st :

" In case you were wondering where we are heading, this week has seen some interesting revelations and developments on the legal front. From Dr Sahu Kahn’s paper presented to the Fiji Law Society as reported on Hyde n Seek blog, to Graham Everett Leung’s argument that FICAC’s New Zealand lawyer Grant Tyrell is not permitted to practice law in Fiji . This is due to the fact that he has not passed the Fiji bar exam or been issued with a temporary Practicing Certificate by the Fiji Law Society. "

MR LEUNG CALLS THE ILLEGAL REGIME'S BLUFF

In representing his client Abbas Ali on charges of corruption by FICAC, Leung dropped an even bigger bombshell by questioning the legality of the President’s promulgation of the formation of FICAC in the absence of Parliament and the Senate. "

FICAC boss appointment queried abroad1710 FJT
Monday, June 04, 2007

"THE appointment of Mah Weng Kwai as Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) is being questioned by the Commonwealth Lawyers Association.

The association has written to the LAWASIA secretariat seeking to clarify Mr Kwai's appointment with Fiji's interim government in light of the stand made by LAWASIA on the situation here. Mr Weng is the president of LAWASIA.

Lawyers in Hong Kong say they will make a stand on Mr Kwai's acceptance of the invitatiion to be head of FICAC. He is expected to be asked to step down."

ILLEGAL REGIME WITH A PERSONAL VENDETTA

Fellow Blogger Tresdesabuse says in regards to the "apolitical" directive.

"I couldn't believe my ears when I was told about a circular distributed to all government entities with the directive to no longer use Fiji's most experienced legal giants - Munro Leys and Howards!

A directive such as this is a classic example of the bullying tactics this current regime resorts to when its caught between a rock and a hard place. And that is putting it quite mildly.

These two firms combined include some of the most brilliant legal minds in the country. Lawyers who are willing to stand up for what they believe. Lawyers who make known their honest interpretation of the rule of law because it is their forte.

We now not only have an illegal regime - we have an illegal regime with a personal vendetta! "
___________

But the public knows that these 2 firms hold the brilliant minds and collective wisdom of Messrs. Leung, Madraiwiwi, Apted and Naidu . And this illegal regime has much to be afraid of from these wonderful gentlemen. The whole country is behind you guys, so you go you good things !
___________

LETS PRETEND THERE REALLY IS NO ISSUE ON THE LAND ISSUE :

Speaking of INCITEMENT - a very interesting article JUNE 1st Fiji Times, raises a VERY interesting question . A question which shows that this illegal regime has an alternate and very devious agenda - and another reason why we should NOT TRUST this illegal regime.

NZ lawyer queries military over Dr Sahu Khan commentsA NEW ZEALAND lawyer, who fled the country last week, is questioning why the military did not take any action against Ba lawyer Dr Shamsudin Sahu Khan when he floated the idea that native land not used by landowners be returned to the State.

Janet Mason says despite a State of Emergency warning against incitement, the military took no action against Dr Sahu Khan for his comments, according to a report by Pacific writer Michael Field.

Ms Mason says when lawyers Kitione Vuataki and Savenaca Komaisavai, who are representing the Great Council of Chiefs over its suspension, questioned the paper, the military accused them of inciting the indigenous people and hauled them into their barracks for questioning.

Ms Mason, who worked with the two lawyers in the GCC case against the interim regime, found that curious.

''If Dr Sahu Khan has recently presented this paper without being detained for inciting instability then I would have imagined that, for instance, I should be free to present alternative views at workshops around the country without fear of being detained,'' she said.

The New Zealand lawyer fled the country after she and her husband were robbed in their Lautoka home. "
______________

Additionally another comment on why we should all be concerned comes from blogger Hyde n Ceek says :
"HnC belives that Sahu Khan intends to use the same arguments he used in his report to try and justify the unrestricted use and enjoyment of the seas, rivers and reefs in Fiji by all races (which is already guaranteed under the Qoliqoli Bill anyway) to hoodwink the military regime into allowing for an amendment to the land laws to allow all races the unrestricted right to own land in Fiji, including native land.
These are however HnC’s views, and you are encouraged… you are INCITED, to make up your own minds."
____________

LET'S PRETEND THE EMERGENCY REGULATIONS ARE LIFTED

We all know this is all a smokescreen for the EU - nothing has changed - "suspected bloggers" are still being taken up the camp for dental work examination. The gestapo watch list is still there. There are witch hunts going on and personal vendetta's being waged still (latest victim is Meo - another story)Blogger Hyde & Ceek said this on the lifting of the so called Emergency Regulations, June 1st, 2007:

"Like everyone else, HnC was elated at the news that the Public Emergency Regulations has been lifted, but has been weary of King Bai and the empty promises he has made in the past.

History has shown that at the the day this is a man that cannot be trusted.

HnC and will therefore wait for his legal sources to analyse the full implications and effect of the lifting of the Decree before commenting further.

Unfortunately for King Bai, pro-democracy bloggers will not simply just go away because he has taken one step in the right direction. He should have taken that step months ago.

The principles of good governance and transparency require that he and his illegal administration should now explain to the public what has exactly has changed in Fiji’s security situation since last month or the months before that.

Was there a threat to national security that existed last month which no longer exists now? I think not. We all knew the only threat to national security was the internal threat within the military.

Whatever Bai, Lewensky and Khaiyum have been saying these past few months, the Public Emergency Decree was never about protecting the general public. It has always been about protecting the military from itself.

HnC’s immediate response to the “good news” therefore is one of scepticism.

The battle rages on between those that support democracy and those who wish to destroy it.

The only difference King Bai’s announcement last night has made is to confirm that the rules of engagement have changed.

I will leave you, for now, with this thought provoking dilema:-

King Bai has publicly confirmed that in the absence of the Public Emergency Regulations, he and his illegal IG will ensure “strict compliance” (taki mada) with the Public Order Act.

He said:-
Under the Public Order Act, any person will be guilty of an offence if he or she: incites violence and disobedience of law; incites racial antagonism; disturbs public peace; holds public gatherings without a permit; maliciously fabricates or knowingly spreads or publishes whether by writing or by word of mouth any false news or false reports to create or foster public alarm and anxiety; and acts in a manner prejudicial to public safety or to the peace and good order of Fiji.

He was of course referring to "trouble makers" like us. "

LETS PRETEND WE ARE NOT CHASING THE BLOGGERS

As an aside to the subject of Bloggers and the statement a couple weeks ago by thick-skinned Driti that they weren't bothered by Bloggers - Hah ! Another Lie - ragone, I tell you they really really want to find us and KILL us !

So much for the lifting of "emergency regulations".

This merely shows the actions of a regime uncomfortable with it's own actions !

Fiji military threatens scholarships of anti-regime bloggers at USP
31 May, 2007 UTC

The Fiji military has warned students at the University of the South Pacific that if they are responsible for contributing to the blog spots their Fijian Affairs Board scholarships will be terminated.

The Fijilive news website quotes the land force commander, Col Pita Driti, as saying that the students will be tracked down.

The news site says it understands that several students were questioned by the army on Tuesday.

It says a senior administration officer of the Public Service Commission has also been questioned by army officers in relation to anti-army and anti-regime blogs.

There has been a proliferation of websites about Fiji politics since the military coup in December "

LETS PRETEND MR & MRS QARASE ARE FREE TO TRAVEL

Back to Hyde & Ceek's comments :
"Unfortunately for Bai, the Public Order Act also says that any person who takes or administers an oath to commit an offence punishable by death (treason is punishable by death) is guilty of an offence and liable to imprisonment for life (section 5)… and if the oath relates to any other offence not punishable by death, in particular to engage in any mutinous or seditious enterprise, or to be a member of any association, society or confederacy formed for that purpose, or to obey the orders or commands of any committee of body of men not lawfully constituted, or of any leader or commander or other person not having authority by law, then that person is liable on conviction to imprisonment for not more than 7 years (section 6)

Now that we know all that, HnC and indeed the rest of Fiji would like to know whether King Bai will stand by his words and arrest himself and everyone in the IG for breaching sections 5 and 6 of the Public Order Act.

Let’s test how authentic the relaxing of the Public Emergency Regulation is.

Can the SDL people tell Qarase and Leba to leave Mavana and travel freely to Suva as free citizens of Fiji!

If Frank’s coup clux clan or the ahhh spokesman say otherwise, then all this fan-fare about the lifting of PER is bullshit and should be re-branded as Public Emergency Rubbish.

International travel advisories should watch very closely and review only when our local political prisoners, Qarase and Leba, are released from Mavana."
Another Blogger called KuitaMada said :
The proof of the pudding is in the eating, we’ll see exactly what this means over the coming weeks.
Especially if Qarase is to return for his court case. I have no doubt the military is still very much on the prowl and I would say none of us here are quite willing to publicly announce ourselves to put it to the test. I’m with HnC on this one, they’ve only done this because they were forced to by international pressure and the plunging economy, it wasn’t because they wanted to do it.
I see no change in Vore’s attitude nor any inclination of wanting to turn things around, those wiser heads which lama is talking about would be better off planning on how to get rid of him before the younger hot heads lose patience or wise up to the real reasons behind this coup. He’s taken us to ransom with his guns, bound, blindfolded and gagged us, now he’s saying well lets remove the blindfold, you can all be thankful now…I said be thankful…cmon BE THANKFUL!!! errr…no thanks.

LETS PRETEND THAT LAUAN'S SUPPORT THE GOVERNMENT

A correspondent who was at the meeting emailed me the following comments:
"Put Fiji first, the Lauans were asked on Wednesday 30th of May by RokoUluilakeba Mara and Ratu Josefa Basulu"
"Without any respect, humbleness or apologies for what he personally has inflicted on his fellow countrymen, this was the gist of what young Mara said to us Lauans that day :
  • - to come up with resolutions in the national interest and to make decisions based on the agenda of the province instead of individuals
  • - their primary role is to provide support and assistance to the government development programs in the province
  • - to help advise Government so that the people of Lau could enjoy a better standard of living
  • - stressed the importance of good leadership and governance in provincial development so that corruption could be eradicated from society as corruption robbed leaders of the decency of their humanity and in turn denied the people access to development as resources would be squandered and wasted
Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara would have turned in his grave ! What an utter embarrassment to our chiefs this was ! Bubu did say in one of her blogs "to earn respect, you have to give it, young man !" Sa ka dina sara. Whilst we of the old school respect the traditional institutions of chiefdomship and all the the stewardship this entails, we still very much reserve our judgement on the caliber and moral character of our leaders. The same applies to this young man. While we nodded and looked very pleased to see him and to hear him, he was an embarrassment to our people, and RokoUlui does not carry any mana with us, nor does he command our respect.

He may be a Lieutenant-Colonel in the army, he may be in a line of hereditary chiefs, he may be many other things, but when he stood there and had the temerity to tell us what we should be doing knowing that he DOES NOT LEAD BY EXAMPLE, we knew where this would lead ! You see, starting with what he told us, I asked the following of my fellow participants over a session :

Q: what resolutions and what decisions based on the vanua has HE taken for us ?
A: NONE - all his decisions have been personal to him

Q : if the province is to advise government to help the people, did he or Ratu Basulu the puppet take the advice of the province ?
A: Not at all . In fact they have ignored the good governance practises that Qarase did help in laying down for us.

Q : Good Leadership and governance under RokoUlui ?
A: Under Qarase , yes . He was doing a lot of good things for Fiji. The Qoliqoli Bill was good for the itaukei. The affirmative action programmes were going to enable the itaukei to get on a more equal footing with the indians in business. This was going to be good for us. What has Ului EVER done for his province, island or his village ? NOTHING Why doesn't Ului declare all HIS interests - like Ului's interests in the army rentals via the Ministry of Finance to Niranjan's to Ului's back pocket. This young man is also very immoral. He sleeps around on his wife and has many affairs . Why should we even begin to trust a man that can lie to his wife and cheat and steal other people's women ? WHAT ELSE IS HE LYING ABOUT ? "

LETS PRETEND THE COUP WAS ALL ABOUT CLEANING UP AND NOT ABOUT LAND AGENDA'S

And June 1st saw a very interesting article by Michael Field , a Pacific based journalist, very experienced and respected in his field, who had this to say about the latest developments in our beloved land :

Land grab behind Fiji's coup?
By MICHAEL FIELD - Fairfax Media | Friday, 1 June 2007
A couple of big balaclava wearing men break into a lawyer's home and a day later two other lawyers are hauled into military custody.

Coincidence, or is something more sinister afoot in military ruled Fiji where there are emerging signs that its latest coup is leading to a battle over land and race, yet again.

Wellington lawyer Janet Mason, whose husband Roger McDonald was bashed over the head during the break-in of her Fiji home, is cautious a political connection.

Like the two lawyers grabbed by the military, Ms Mason advises the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC), suspended in April by Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

He staged his coup last December wanting to end what he claimed was a corrupt government while issuing a vague manifesto on a new multicultural society.

Ms Mason and Fijian lawyers Mr Kitione Vuataki and Mr Savenaca Komaisavai, hauled into custody, represent chiefs who are challenging in the High Court the suspension of the GCC. They have named interim Fijian Affairs Minister Epeli Ganilau and Mr Bainimarama as respondents.

An influential figure in the new regime, academic lawyer and military appointed chair of the Electoral Commission, Dr Shamsud Sahu Khan, wants land laws scrapped.

After bitter tribal wars, Fiji's rulers petitioned Britain to annex the islands, achieved in 1874 with the signing of the Deed of Cession signed between representatives of Queen Victoria and the Fijian chiefs.

Part of the deed states: "That the absolute proprietorship of all lands not shown to be now alienated so as to have become bona fide the property of Europeans or other foreigners or not now in the actual use or occupation of some Chief or tribe or not actually required for the probable future support and maintenance of some chief or tribe shall be and is hereby declared to be vested in Her said Majesty her heirs and successors."

Under Fiji's three constitutions, indigenous land, about 90 per cent of all land, cannot be sold. Ethnic Indians, mostly descendants of indentured labourers imported by sugar plantations, cannot buy land.

Dr Khan's argument was that Fijians are not entitled to this protection. Land should be state owned.

"There have been a lot of assumptions and practices which may not have been correct from the legation standpoint," Dr Khan said.

"In my submissions it is very seriously questionable as to how as now claimed that some 85 per cent to 90 per cent of the lands in Fiji are native land. This certainly raises very important legal and constitutional issues that need to be properly addressed by all concerned now."

Land had been transferred to "the indigenous Fijians to the exclusion of all other races who comprise more than 50 per cent of the population of Fiji..."

Fiji last had a census in 1996 when it found that 51 per cent were indigenous and its Bureau of Statistics estimated that last December the number had risen to 55 per cent.

Despite a State of Emergency warning against incitement, the military took no action when Dr Khan floated his idea.

When Mr Vuataki and Mr Komaisavai questioned the paper, the military accused them of inciting the indigenous people and hauled them into their barracks for questioning.

Ms Mason found that curious.

"If Mr Sahu Khan has recently presented this paper without being detained for inciting instability then I would have imagined that, for instance, I should be free to present alternative views at workshops around the country without fear of being detained...

"My concern is that this is meant to be an interim (caretaker) government - they have not been elected - as such, I think it is highly inappropriate that such far-reaching policy changes are being proposed."

Ms Mason says Dr Khan's paper had very little analysis in it and no understanding of the significant amount of jurisprudence in the common law aboriginal title area.

"There is not even a mention of the Mabo case -where the Australian High Court went to great lengths to overturn the reliance on the doctrine of terra nullius - essentially the idea that there were vast areas of "wasteland" that no-one owned as such land was not actively "used" - the courts held that such a view was now outdated as we now know that indigenous peoples had intricate systems and rules and regulations over such land."

Ms Mason, who is of Fijian heritage, believes the indigenous would be overwhelmingly against Dr Khan's proposals. In the current political climate "this would create certain problems of themselves - there would also be a rather strong reaction from indigenous Fijians."

Ms Mason, a public and constitutional law expert with her own Wellington practice, Pacific Law, was last week in Fiji on the GCC case. Staying in Lautoka she and her husband were disturbed by intruders who grabbed her laptop computer but left her files alone. Her husband was hit over the head with a heavy torch and a brief struggle followed.

"There was blood throughout the house. The bigger guy who hit him managed to get away and he ran after him through the house.

"It was like a murder scene with blood everywhere. It was a horrible experience."

Home invasions are common in Fiji but Ms Mason pointed to a number of differences in her case: "It's very difficult to say the motivation. I have no proof either way."

Lautoka police have made no arrests in the case or recovered the property.

Mr Vuataki's crime in military eyes was to question Dr Khan paper and noted that the last time the GCC had been suspended, for six years from 1904, the indigenous people had lost 200,000 acres of land.

"We are going to court because we don't want to lose any more land like the 200,000 acres with the suspension of the GCC," he said.

After spending two days in military custody he was freed and announced he would be more careful over what he said in future.

Military appointed Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the lawyer's detention was in respect of allegations of incitement.

"All citizens including lawyers should they breach the law or have allegations of breaches shall be investigated and questioned," he said.

"Miss Mason is unfortunately taking liberties from across the Pacific, in terms of relaying the truth.

"There's absolutely no intimidation of lawyers who are representing various clients of theirs in constitutional matters."

In January prominent corporate lawyer Richard Naidu was seized from his Suva home at night and detained by soldiers for several hours. An outspoken critic of the military he never said publicly what happened and is now silent on the regime.

Fiji's first two coups that were staged by Sitiveni Rabuka against a fear by indigenous Fijians that Indians were taking over the country. He overthrew an Indian dominated government. He lost power in 1999 when Indian Mahendra Chaudhry won an election.

In 2000 an extreme indigenous group - personified by mixed blood George Speight - overthrew Chaudhry. Ironically Bainimarama, who had declared martial law at the time, did not restore Chaudhry to power and eventually an indigenous government won two elections.

Although Bainimarama is Fijian, the key actors in his regime now are mostly Indian and, oddly, Muslim. Dr Khan and Mr Sayed-Khaiyum are in-laws, the military's lawyer, Colonel Mohammed Aziz, is occasionally tipped to head the army while in the judiciary the indigenous Chief Justice, Daniel Fatiaki, was sacked after a small group of judges, headed by Justice Nazhat Shameem, advised that he be sacked.

Fiji is slipping toward an ethnic conflict with the prize being the land in a country that once billed itself as the way the world should be.

LETS PRETEND WE ARE ON TRACK WITH THE PRETEND ROADMAP TO DEMOCRACY
Finally , just one of the many many articles on the fact that the world is still watching Fiji and the utterances of the Dicktator, read this article :

'Fiji coup still a problem'

Australia has welcomed Fiji's lifting its state of emergency but warns comments from Commander Bainimarama are worrying.

Fiji on Thursday night lifted state of emergency regulations that curtailed many liberties, including freedom of assembly and freedom of expression.

The move came just hours before a deadline imposed by the European Union.

An agreement between Fiji and the European Union stated the emergency regulations had to be lifted before the end of May or Fiji could lose about $F400 million ($A297 million) in aid funding.

Bainimarama cautioned that even though the emergency declaration was lifted, people creating unrest could still be "investigated, arrested and charged" by the Fiji Police Force.

Australia welcomed the lifting of the state of emergency.

Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) said in a statement today it expected Fiji would now cease arresting, detaining and questioning Fiji civilians.

It urged the immediate cessation of human rights abuses.

The DFAT statement said Australia was concerned at recent comments by Bainimarama that the military did not conduct last December's coup "just to have another election".

"Bainimarama's comments are deeply worrying. They are contrary to Fiji's undertakings to the (Pacific Islands) Forum and its commitments to the EU to hold credible elections by 1 March 2009.

"They also contradict Bainimarama's statement on 3 May that he was committed to a quick return to democracy," the statement said.

Fiji's Foreign Minister Winston Peters also welcomed the lifting of the state of emergency.

"This is a good first step on the road back to constitutional government, but it is only a first step and should bring to an end the abuses of human rights witnessed ever since the coup," Peters said.

Despite the lifting of the state of emergency, Fiji's land force commander, Colonel Pita Driti has said in recent days that students who contribute to anti-government weblogs on the internet would be tracked down and could lose their scholarships.

Australia and NZ have not changed its travel advice to people heading to Fiji, but said the information was under constant review.
